Excerpt from Cycles of the Soul

The Soul

I will attempt to define the soul, but please understand that language is inadequate because your human form limits your ability to comprehend the greater mysteries of life. This is as it is meant to be. This limitation is part of the challenge of being a human being and what makes the experience of being human possible. You are intentionally cut off from your true nature, your divine nature, for the purpose of more fully exploring being human.

Being human puts limits on your divine nature. When you chose to become human, you chose to come into a limiting form, one that results in a narrow and distorted perspective that causes suffering. One of your challenges as a spiritual being in a human body is to learn to see beyond these mistaken perceptions to a truer one to the extent that’s possible as a human being. Nevertheless, not until you’ve completed your cycle of human lifetimes will you be able to see or understand life as you did before. While you are playing at being human, you are barred, for a relatively short time in your soul’s evolution, from the heavenly existence you willingly chose to leave.

This limited and challenging perspective is why you chose to become human. The limitations are the point, not a mistake in the design or something that’s personally your fault and certainly not a punishment. This is important to see. Your faults, failings, and limitations as a human being are in your design—in everyone’s design—and you accepted this condition when you agreed to be human. These are not personal failings but grist for your spiritual mill. Every human being is saddled with essentially the same faults and limitations, although over the course of your many lifetimes, these lessen, since that’s one of the purposes of your many lifetimes, as we will see.

Your soul is perfect and complete—always—before your human incarnations and after. Your soul is unharmed and unstained by any experience you might have during your sojourns on earth or elsewhere. And your soul is evolving as a result of these sojourns. Your soul is perfect and your soul is evolving, as is the Godhead. Every experience adds to your soul and to the Godhead.

From the standpoint of your soul, there is no experience you can have on earth or elsewhere that is bad or a mistake, although there are choices that lead to pain and suffering for oneself and others. The soul accepts and appreciates all experiences for the growth they provide. There is no judgment from the soul or any other being guiding your soul’s evolution and no punishment as the result of any of your choices except the natural cause and effect of the Law of Karma, whose purpose is always to teach, not punish.

It is so important for you to understand that whatever challenges karma brings into your life are ones your soul agreed to take on. No one is forced into a life situation or circumstance that is not of one’s soul’s choosing. No one is limited or challenged in ways that its soul has not welcomed and designed itself in conjunction with guides. When you’re on the other side, in touch with your soul, you are very courageous and embrace the unique opportunity for growth the earth plane provides.

I should also add that there are other vastly different reincarnational systems that a soul might become involved in besides yours that provide very different experiences than your reincarnational system. And, you might be interested in knowing that many reincarnating on earth have also reincarnated or will reincarnate elsewhere, in some other third dimensional, or physical, world during their human reincarnational cycle. So, by no means are all of your physical incarnations solely on earth.

Your soul also has the option to not be involved in any reincarnational system and remain free and unlimited. Angels are an example of this. However, most beings do choose to experience limitation and challenge at some point, because such experiences are interesting and stimulating. And if you are eternal, why not challenge yourself?

So, what is the soul? I will give you a simple definition: The soul is a spark of God. Why is this a good metaphor for the soul? Because a spark has all the qualities of the fire it came from. A spark isn’t the totality of the fire it came from, but it can expand and have a life of its own. And regardless of what happens to it, a spark is still fire. Its essential nature never changes, even as it changes shape and transforms itself and that which it touches.

Like a spark, your soul is the same essence as God, not less than or different in any way. It just isn’t the totality of God. So, when I say that you are God, I mean that you and every other soul are of the same essence as God, and that essence is love. Your true nature is love.

God, the Source, chose to expand itself by creating material and nonmaterial universes and by living inside those creations. This is accomplished by God sending sparks of itself—souls—into creation to explore, play, learn, love, and further create. Through their experiences, these souls accumulate knowledge, understanding, and even greater love, and evolve as entities in their own right, while simultaneously remaining unified with God, who is partaking in that experience as well.

The soul is so magnificent and multidimensional that it can enter into many different lifetimes at once. This is who you are. You are this magnificent, multidimensional being masquerading, for the time being, as a simple human being, all for the purpose of further expanding in love and every other divine quality.

Do you realize that there is no end to the experience of love? Love has many qualities, and the development of these qualities and the intensity of love is endless. This is what God gains through incarnation in human form and other experiences. God is expanded—and by this, I mean that God is expanded in love, knowledge, and wisdom, just as your soul is through your various incarnations.

Every experience you have is stored in your soul as not only a memory, but as knowledge and wisdom. And in each successive lifetime, you draw upon this accumulated knowledge and wisdom. This wisdom is given to you intuitively when needed by the nonphysical beings guiding you. Although you might not be aware of this when it happens, it’s one of the ways the soul guides you throughout your lifetime. This explains why those who’ve lived more lifetimes are wiser and make better choices than younger souls.

As a result of its many lifetimes, this individualized aspect of your soul evolves in wisdom, love, and every other quality you consider admirable, such as patience, acceptance, responsibility, reliability, discrimination, perseverance, courage, fortitude, humility, empathy, compassion, generosity, kindness, rationality, fairmindedness, love, and so many others. Naming all that you gain from your incarnations is impossible, as language cannot capture this. Your individualized soul and your greater soul are enhanced in unimaginable ways.

Only once you’re beyond the reincarnational cycle are you able to realize what you’ve gained. While in a body, you’re often quite unaware of the miraculous process of evolution taking place within you. The density of the earth plane is so great that it’s difficult to see the purpose of life and the beauty and perfection of life’s workings.

It’s difficult to feel grateful for the life you so gladly took on and with such passion and fervor! Most human beings are quite unaware of their soul and its involvement in their life. If they were, they would more easily rejoice in this gift of life. Through these writings, I hope to help you become more aware of this and of the servants of God, the nonphysical beings who guide your life, who are with you throughout.
